Teen Extension allows teens ages 13-17 to explore different dance techniques and develop their skills in a judgment-free zone. The weekly dance series offers classes such as Hip Hop, Ballet, or Contemporary; the Ailey Experience workshops offer the opportunity to train and perform in a variety of dance techniques. No prior experience required.

Ailey Extension Kicks Off Fall Kids And Teens Session With Free Open House Sampling Ballet, Hip-Hop, And Contemporary Jazz Techniques

(NEW YORK) August 11, 2022 – Ailey Extension is opening its doors to young aspiring dancers for the return of the Fall Kids & Teens Sunday dance series from September 18-December 11. This year ahead of the official start of the 12-week session, children ages 5-17 are invited to get moving and grooving one week early while sampling ballet, hip-hop, and contemporary jazz classes at a free open house on September 11. All Kids & Teens programming takes place in person at the Joan Weill Center for Dance – NYC’s largest building dedicated to dance – where students of all ages and experience levels can get down while improving their technique with the help of Ailey Extension’s elite instructors.

Ailey Extension Celebrates National Dance Day On September 18 By Reopening Studios For Public To Enjoy Weekend Hybrid And In-Studio Only Classes For First Time Since March 2020

New York, NY – September 2, 2021 – Ailey Extension will celebrate National Dance Day by welcoming New York City area dancers back to the studios to experience the vibrant energy of its “real classes for real people” in person starting Saturday, September 18. For the first time since March 2020, New Yorkers of all experience levels and backgrounds are invited to join in the dance at the Joan Weill Center for Dance – NYC’s largest building dedicated to dance – with their favorite instructors, inspiring guest artists and esteemed musicians. An updated schedule of classes allows fully vaccinated New Yorkers ages 12+ to gather in small groups on Saturdays and Sundays. Virtual class options remain available seven days a week for those 16+ who cannot join in-studio and for children ages 5-11 under the Kids & Teens Sunday Dance Series.
