Renaldo Maurice is thrilled to be returning to Chicago with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. "My spirit is really happy and full of joy," said Maurice, who will be seeing family members and friends during his visit. Maurice, a Gary native, has been dancing with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for more than eight seasons. He said he took last year off to do a variety of other projects.

When Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater brings its show to The Auditorium Theatre this week, it'll be the first time Gary native Renaldo Gardner dances in Chicagoland as a member of the legendary main Ailey company.
One of Gary's native sons made a return to his Steel City roots during a modern dance performance at the West Side High School recently. Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson presented Renaldo Gardner, a member of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Company in NEw York, with the key to the city before an auditorium filled with students from several Gary elementary and high schools.
