Tiba Vieira began his Capoeira training with Mestre Jelon and Grupo Capoeira Brasil in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. In 1997, Mr. Vieira moved to the USA, where he trained with Contra-Mestre Caxias and Contra-Mestre Jô, under the supervision of Mestre Jelon. He has taught at various schools and universities including the Training Academy in Brooklyn, Saint Anthony's School, Educational Alliance and the Alvin Ailey School in New York, Bard College in Annadale-on-Hudson, NY, Dance Connecticut in Hartford, CT, the Cleo Parker Robinson Summer Festival in Denver, Colorado, and Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio. In addition to his teaching, Mr. Vieira has appeared in the TNT's "Martial Artists of the 20th Century," the New York Film Academy's "Fascinado Pela Capoeira," the PBS series, Egg: The Arts Show, German GQ Magazine, and a Subway restaurants commercial.
