Ailey Extension Celebrates National Dance Day On September 18 By Reopening Studios For Public To Enjoy Weekend Hybrid And In-Studio Only Classes For First Time Since March 2020

New York, NY – September 2, 2021 – Ailey Extension will celebrate National Dance Day by welcoming New York City area dancers back to the studios to experience the vibrant energy of its “real classes for real people” in person starting Saturday, September 18. For the first time since March 2020, New Yorkers of all experience levels and backgrounds are invited to join in the dance at the Joan Weill Center for Dance – NYC’s largest building dedicated to dance – with their favorite instructors, inspiring guest artists and esteemed musicians. An updated schedule of classes allows fully vaccinated New Yorkers ages 12+ to gather in small groups on Saturdays and Sundays. Virtual class options remain available seven days a week for those 16+ who cannot join in-studio and for children ages 5-11 under the Kids & Teens Sunday Dance Series.

Ailey Extension Reveals Workshops Related To Ailey's New York City Center Season, New Classes, And Holiday Promotions

Dancers of all experience levels will have several chances throughout the month to train with the esteemed choreographers and trainers helping Ailey dancers prepare for the upcoming holiday season engagement at New York City Center. This month’s workshops allow dancers to receive hands-on modern dance coaching with Ailey Rehearsal Director Matthew Rushing; learn a spiritually refreshing mix of modern and African dance from celebrated Choreographer Ronald K. Brown, whose work remains part of Ailey’s current repertory; and build endurance fit for a dancer with Master Trainer Steven Lopez, who trains his Ailey dancer wife Constance Stamatiou between performance seasons. With new workshops, classes, and promotional deals, students have a wider range of opportunities to sharpen their dance skills.

Ailey Extension Bounces Into Back-To-School Mode With Lively New Classes And Workshops For Kids And Adults

Ailey Extension is excited to introduce two new weekly classes taught by renowned instructors Danielle Lima, one of the foremost samba teachers in the USA; and Joan Peters, one of the original Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater company members and master teacher of the Dunham technique. Ailey Extension will also offer an additional Beginner Ballet class taught by American Ballet Theatre Certified Teacher Anna Lederfeind.

Ailey Extension Celebrates NYC Dance Week, June 13-22, With Free Classes To Unleash Your Inner Dancer

(New York) May 22, 2019 – This June, Ailey Extension invites New Yorkers to celebrate dance onstage and off when NYC Dance Week returns Thursday, June 13 through Saturday, June 22, coinciding with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Lincoln Center engagement June 12-16, 2019. Throughout the annual citywide festival, Ailey Extension will offer over 25 free* dance and fitness classes for adults of all experience levels at The Joan Weill Center for Dance – New York’s largest building dedicated to dance and the official home of Ailey. As a bonus, the entire family can come together on the dance floor during NYC Dance Week for a lively celebration of music, dance, and oral traditions with a free West African Family class with Maguette Camara on Friday, June 14 at 6:30pm.
