(New York, NY) November 13, 2017 – Ailey Extension welcomes leading dancers from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to teach three special workshops during the company’s New York City Center holiday season (November 29 – December 31). Former Ailey dancer and creator of Ailey Barre Sarita Allen teaches choreography from Alvin Ailey’s popular work Night Creature, and company members Hope Boykin and Michael Jackson, Jr. lead workshops that will feature Alvin Ailey’s signature style and expand the artistic range of students.

Each summer, Ailey Extension invites students to take their dancing to another level and unleash their inner performer. Beginner and advanced beginner dancers are welcomed to enroll in a four-week Summer Performance Workshop to learn and showcase choreography from some of Ailey Extension’s top instructors.
Ailey Extension opens its doors this summer to kids and teens, offering three immersive, multi-day training workshops taught by New York City’s top choreographers and master teachers. Ailey Experience NYC Jr., Ailey Experience NYC, and Fabrice Herrault’s Ballet Summer Intensive allow young dancers to learn technique, musicality, and artistry.
This summer, Ailey Extension is launching new weekly classes and one-time-only workshops for adults and even for the entire family. From dance fitness to bellydance to yoga classes, there’s something for students of all levels and backgrounds.
Ailey Extension celebrates NYC Dance Week, a citywide festival from June 15-24, by offering 30 free dance and fitness classes for new students. Continuing through Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Lincoln Center engagement June 14-18, free classes will be held at The Ailey Studios – home to the world-renowned Ailey dancers – featuring nearly all of Ailey Extension’s 25 techniques, many taught with live accompaniment.

Artistic Director Robert Battle announces a variety of exciting happenings in connection with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Lincoln Center season at the David H. Koch Theater June 14 – 18. In addition to three diverse programs featuring recent favorites and the company premiere of Battle’s Mass, the season will include an array of uplifting activities for all ages, the return of acclaimed dancer Clifton Brown, a special Ailey Spirit Gala performance of Moonlight x Ailey.
Ailey Extension’s annual World Dance Performance Workshops kick off the week of April 9th, bringing together all communities to celebrate and share rich heritages from around the world. For eight weeks, students will be immersed in traditional dance styles and cultural rhythms through weekly two-hour workshops taught by renowned Ailey Extension instructors.
To celebrate Women’s HERstory Month in March, Ailey Extension presents two workshops to promote health awareness and empower women of all shapes and sizes. On Tuesday, March 14th at 7 p.m. three of Ailey Extension’s top dance and fitness instructors – Sarita Allen, Karen Arceneaux, and Sarah Rozek – lead a Women’s Health and Fitness Day workshop. On Saturday, March 25th at 7 p.m. Pretty BIG Movement’s founder and CEO Akira Armstrong instructs the Move Your Curves workshop designed for voluptuous, plus-sized women.
