February 10, 2020 (New York, NY) – On the heels of a successful world tour to over 30 cities, Ailey II, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s junior company that serves as a bridge between The Ailey School, will return to its home, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, for a highly anticipated two-week season featuring 14 exhilarating performances from March 25- April 5. (New York) February 4, 2019 – This February, Ailey Extension opens its hearts and doors for all novice and experienced dancers alike to celebrate love in various forms at special workshops and new classes. On Valentine’s Day dancers can get their hearts pumping at a Zumba® Valentine’s Day Party with Jose Ozuna or celebrate romantic and platonic affection with a Valentine’s Day Salsa Workshop led by Baila Society. Ailey Inspires Healthy Habits For Young People At Winter 2020 Kids And Teens Sunday Dance Series

(New York) December 12, 2019 – This January, Ailey Extension welcomes kids and teens alike to get moving during the Winter/Spring Kids & Teens Sunday Dance series. The 16-week session runs Sundays from January 12 – May 10 and offers movement classes for 2-year-old children and their parents; hip hop classes for school-age kids; and ballet, jazz and hip hop courses for teenagers. NEW YORK – UPDATED December 2, 2019 —Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will launch a five-week holiday season on December 4 with a star-studded gala benefit performance at New York City Center and party at the New York Hilton Midtown Grand Ballroom. The special evening celebrates philanthropist Elaine Wynn and the Elaine P. Wynn & Family Foundation. Wynn’s generous contributions have supported the creation of new works as well as the Elaine Wynn & Family Education Wing, which in 2017 added three floors – featuring four dance studios and two classrooms – to The Joan Weill Center for Dance, New York’s largest building dedicated to dance. Actress and singer Renée Elise Goldsberry will serve as the evening’s Honorary Chair. Goldsberry, a Tony and Grammy Award winner, is best known for originating the role of Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway musical Hamilton, and can currently be seen starring in the new critically acclaimed film, Waves.

Masazumi Chaya, Beloved Mainstay Of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Celebrated With Special Performance During His Final New York City Center Season As Associate Artistic Director

NEW YORK, NY – November 25, 2019 – Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater announces programming for a historic night at Ailey celebrating Associate Artistic Director Masazumi Chaya on Sunday, December 22nd at 7:30pm at New York City Center. Previously, Robert Battle, Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, shared the news that the Company’s beloved mainstay for nearly five decades, Mr. Chaya, intends to retire on January 5, 2020, at the conclusion of the Company’s New York City Center season. Having joined the Company in 1972 as a dancer, Mr. Chaya performed under Mr. Ailey’s direction for 15 years, subsequently assumed responsibility for rehearsing the Company—a role for which Mr. Ailey had cultivated him—and for more than 28 years, as Associate Artistic Director, has maintained the repertoire, handled innumerable creative decisions, and guided generations of the Company’s dancers.
