Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has been captivating audiences for more than fifty years, amassing a repertoire of more than two hundred works from more than eighty choreographers since its founding by Alvin Ailey in 1958 at the 92nd St. Y.
In honor of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's winter season, from Nov. 28 through Dec. 30, writer Harry Hurt III traded slacks and loafers for tights and ballet slippers in order to experience Ailey's magical vision for himself.
