The rhythmically complex music, by French a cappella group Lo Còr De La Plana, couples with Shelver’s quirky style to make dance theater that will set pulses racing.

Ailey II - The Next Generation Of Dance - Returns To The Ailey Citigroup Theater For Two Week-Season March 25 - April 5

February 10, 2020 (New York, NY) – On the heels of a successful world tour to over 30 cities, Ailey II, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s junior company that serves as a bridge between The Ailey School, will return to its home, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, for a highly anticipated two-week season featuring 14 exhilarating performances from March 25- April 5. The acclaimed 12-member ensemble of rising stars will share their artistry and prowess in an expansive repertory by emerging and established choreographers, including former Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater member Kirven Douthit-Boyd, former Ailey II Rehearsal Director Alia Kache, Ailey company member Yannick Lebrun, Renee McDonald, Andrea Miller, Darrell Grand Moultrie, and Ailey School alum and former Ailey II dancer Bradley Shelver.

The St. Louis American - Audiences Amazed By Ailey II

“I just can’t for the life of me believe that this is a second company,” a woman said to no one in particular as the lights came up for the first intermission of the Dance St. Louis showcase of Ailey II Saturday night at the Touhill Performing Arts Center. The woman couldn’t contain her excitement after seeing the troupe’s performance of “Still,” which was choreographed by St. Louis transplant and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater alum Kirven Douthit-Boyd.
