Ailey II - The Next Generation Of Dance - Sets Out On A World Tour As Ailey's 60th Anniversary Celebrations Begin

(New York) September 13, 2017 – As the “Ailey Ascending” 60th Anniversary celebration gets underway, Ailey II embarks on a 38-city world tour this Saturday, September 15, continuing through May 18 (schedule on page 3). The renowned 12-member ensemble will inspire audiences in nearly two dozen cities across the U.S., including a stop in Atlanta as part of Ailey’s Destination Dance initiative, which uses dance as a centerpiece for engagement through partnerships with cultural, civic, and educational institutions. Ailey II will reach international audiences in Canada, Poland, Germany, France and Luxembourg, and will return home for its annual New York season, taking place at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts March 13 – 17, 2019.

Ailey II makes its NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts debut March 29 – April 2, sharing two programs of premieres and returning favorites with audiences during its annual New York season. The 12 young dancers return to the New York stage after a 25-city world tour to share their artistry and prowess in an expansive repertory by emerging and established choreographers, including Leila Da Rocha, Jean Emile, Jae Man Joo, Ray Mercer, Bridget L. Moore, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater member Jamar Roberts, and former Ailey dancer Marcus Jarrell Willis

AJC - Choreographer Juel D. Lane Brings Atlanta Flavor To Ailey II

Destination Dance, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s initiative to produce year-round programming in Atlanta, will wrap up its pilot season this weekend with performances that could launch a locally based choreographer to new heights. Juel D. Lane will make his choreographic debut with Ailey II, the organization’s second company, with “Touch & Agree (2017),” which premieres Oct. 21 alongside Renee I. McDonald’s “Breaking Point” and Ailey’s “Revelations” at the Rialto Center for the Arts.
